Process

My drypoints begin life as detailed pencil sketches before being overlaid and hand-etched on to the drypoint plate. The edition of Japanese gampi chine colle paper further enhances the organic nature of my work.

Quite often, other recognisable forms seem to emerge as the drawings are mirrored, elements of the human skeleton, faces and mysterious vessels.

The viewer is invited to explore and interpret these intricate structures, which are primarily a celebration of natures’ raw and delicate beauty.

A piece of cardboard with a dried, twisted branch attached to it, and a sketch of a similar branch drawn on a spiral notebook.
Six images of various dried, twisted tree branches mounted on a white background.
Close-up of a sheet of paper or thin material with an embossed handprint in the center.
A hand holding a glass slide with an etched image of a tree with branches. The background is a blurred outdoor garden.
Two botanical sketches of a tree branch with roots, one on tan paper and one on clear plastic, with blue gloves in the background.
